Whoosh. 2013 has passed. Gone but never forgotten as it was the year that marked Geek Club Books beginnings. And for me, it’s been career coming full circle back to THE most important work I’ve ever done…being a mom. And a mom who has a skill set—thanks to my work experience—to start a creative company inspired by my son, Jonathan.
Using good old fashioned storytelling and modern technology, our creative team produced The Mighty League storybook app which we released in September 2013. The app earned high praise from reviewers and consumers.
I created two e-books in collaboration with the awe-inspiring autism and special needs Facebook communities—Autimisms and Project Heart Touch—to lift the spirits and support those who are on a ‘spectrum’ journey.
We celebrated and cheered for special kids proclaiming them members of our Mighty League Squad with a certificate and a Geek Club Books bag. Many kiddos shared their creative sides so we hosted virtual gallery exhibits of their work.
We found people who embrace their uniqueness and featured them as our Geeks of the Week. They are role models for our self-acceptance message.
There are so many amazing people—authors and entrepreneurs—who are doing such great work that I was curious to find out more about them and their products.
These are but a few of my favorite memories and accomplishments in 2013—the year of creativity, community, and meaningful connection. I look forward to bringing you more of the same along with a few unexpected surprises in 2014!
