Autistic Ian Weller writes poetry. He started in high school as his way to communicate the emotions and feelings he couldn’t express in public…he calls it his ‘life poetry.’ His nickname, Professor Weller, lovingly came from the school’s staff who recognized his gift of verse.
Ian has assembled a selection of his work from 2007 through 2012 in a collection entitled, Peace and Redemption Darkness Into Light.
I’m pleased to be able to share two poems from his collection. He is a creative spirit with a deep soul. Keep writing Ian! And yes, I agree with his teachers, he is worthy of the title: Professor Weller.
Angel
When will Heaven send me an angel?
An angel that will love me for who I am,
an angel that will save me from the darkness
within me,
an angel that will end the internal chaos in my
mind.
When will Heaven send this angel to me?
Answers
How far must I go,
What must I do,
To find the answers that I seek?
Are they right in front of me,
Or are they hidden and I can’t find them?
How do you heal the pain of a wanting heart?
How do you put a mind wrapped in chaos
into a state of peace?
How far must I go,
What must I do,
To find these answers I seek?

Ian God did send you an angel, he sent it to you via poetry. He gave you a wonderful gift of poetry and your poems are beautiful and inspiring.
Ian, your poetry is beautiful and provides an raw look inside of your soul. I can relate to what you are saying, as I myself could have written those words… but not in the perfect way that you did. Well done!
