Join our autism nonprofit and Someone Special Uniquely Personalized Books in spreading “Kindness and Awareness” by educating all children about children with autism and other special needs.
We create autism awareness education and curriculum so parents and teachers can introduce important topics of autism in the inclusive classroom. Someone Special Books allows the parent or educator to further personalize the message of acceptance through their customizable picture books. Working in collaboration, we help children develop the compassion and understanding for their peers with special needs.
Heather McCarthy, one of the co-founders of Someone Special Books explains our motivation…
“Jodi Murphy and I are special needs moms. While my children carry the diagnosis of Propionic Acidemia, her son has autism. We both know that these are simply diagnoses and they do not define our children.”
Heather, and her co-founder Kate Ryan, and I have a common dream for our children. We want a kinder, more accepting world that looks deeper than a diagnosis. Our mission is to provide the tools for special needs families to make that happen.
To kick off our initiative, Heather and Kate have chosen Geek Club Books as their charity of the month. During the month of August, they will give back 10% of their Someone Special Uniquely Personalized book sales for Geek Club Books autism awareness education. More specifically, any funds raised will go towards the fees and honorariums we pay to our autistic team of contributors. They are what makes our public awareness education so innovative and authentic.
“We are excited to partner with Geek Club Books.” said Kate. “Together, we are raising awareness, spreading acceptance and helping the fight against bullies.”
Begin by choosing a book and start personalizing. Place your order and use it to spread kindness and awareness!
