Artists with Autism

Business: Artists With Autism, Inc.

Mission:

“Promoting Micro-enterprising, Providing Opportunities, Creating Independence”

Artists with Autism, Inc LogoWhat is Artists With Autism?

Artists With Autism is the only not for profit social enterprise of its kind providing a retail gallery as a platform for more than 50 artists, authors and crafters with autism spectrum to show and sell their handmade art and crafts. They receive 100% of the proceeds from their sales.

Why did you feel that starting your own business was the answer?

We believe supported self-employment is a viable alternative as a career choice and focusing on what they CAN do promotes creativity in which improves all areas of their lives.

Painting - Artists with Autism

Is this a business that just employs your child or do you also employ others with autism or special needs?

Our retail Gallery is located inside the Festival Flea Market in Pompano Beach, Florida. It currently represents 20 local artists and four organizations serving students with special needs. The Gallery is managed on a daily basis by volunteers, and the artists with autism.

Do you have any upcoming plans to share?

Different…Not Less! Art Market and Exhibit – The exhibit will showcase the achievements and talents of our artists. Artwork, handmade gifts, Artist interviews, and Spoken Poetry on Stage will entertain the guests. Saturday March 25, 2017. Reception 4:00- 6:30pm. Location at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Free event.

What message would you like to give to other families who are searching for job opportunities for their autistic loved one?

Focus on the positive abilities and network with like-minded people. This will always bring your next opportunity.
